Resources for these Challenging Times

This is an exceptionally challenging time in our history. For Jews and Palestinians and for all who are bearing witness. We are holding so much grief from the Hamas terrorist attacks and the aftermath. Many of us are feeling afraid, anxious, sad, hopeless, ungrounded, etc. Our nervous systems are overwhelmed, we are in a trauma response.

How do we find solid ground

We need to use all of our resources right now. We need to come back into our thinking brain and regulate our nervous systems. We need to come back to connection and safety.

Come back to your body. Your body is your home and your resource. Place your hands on your body. Tap your head, your chest, your whole body.

Breathe deeply- letting the exhale be longer than the inhale. Try the alternate nostril breathing.

Ground yourself. Feel your feet firmly planted on the earth. Your body on the ground or sitting in a chair. Use your senses to ground yourself. Notice what you see, hear, smell, taste, touch. Take it in through your senses. Take time to be outside in nature and feel your feet on the solid earth. Lie on the ground and feel the earth supporting you.

Connect with others. Reach out to friends. Talk, walk, cry together. Get hugs.

Aroma therapy, herbal teas, warm baths, rescue remedy.

Take breaks from the news. Take breaks from political discussions. Take breaks from Facebook. Take breaks from your phone.
